Allergy testing for children

Allergies come in many forms, with a wide variety of severities. There are a number of allergies that are simple to treat from home, but if your child is experiencing symptoms or reactions that are stopping them from enjoying their playtime or getting a full night’s sleep, then it’s best to make an appointment to get them checked.

Also, if you’re noticing any of the following symptoms, then it’s important to make an appointment:

Hay Fever: Runny nose, congestion, sneezing and itchy eyes and nose. If these last longer than a week, or tend to happen around the same time of year it’s best to check with us.

Asthma: Being short of breath, a tight chest or coughing – also if these get worse at night or after exercise.

Eczema: An itchy, red rash that leads to scaly patches and lots of scratching.

Reactions after eating specific food: This might be rashes, swelling in the throat or other areas, wheezing and feeling unwell.

Allergy consultation

If you suspect your child has an allergy, book your appointment at Katy Memorial Pediatrics, where we’ll be on hand to help you diagnose the allergy and get suitable treatment. During your initial consultation, we’re also able to provide testing for children over 5 years of age. Here we’ll narrow down and find the cause of the allergic reactions. This is a highly-important first step to ensure the treatment is correct for your child’s allergy.

Allergy treatment for children

The Katy Memorial Pediatrics team has a wealth of experience in treating allergies. Once we have diagnosed the allergy, we’re then able to prescribe medicines to treat the symptoms of their allergy, and also advice on avoiding your child’s allergy triggers. Our aim is to enable children to get back to doing kids stuff without the interruption of their allergic reactions.
